Celebrate Easter with this adorable Easter basket craft from Easy Paper Projects by Maggy Woodley:
EASTER BASKETS
MATERIALS
Light card stock is ideal, though regular paper will do
Scraps of paper, for decorating
TOOLS
Ruler
Lead pencil
Scissors
Stapler
Pen
Glue stick
This is a craft that benefits from accuracy, so try to work as neatly as you can. Measure out the side of the card stock and use a lead pencil to draw a square the same width. Then, draw 2 lines across the square to divide it into 3 equal parts. In this case, a little less than 2 3/4 inches (7 cm) each. Cut off the edge of the card stock but save this, you will need it for the handle.
Using the lines to guide you, make 2 cuts into either side of the square. Fold these up.
The first quadrant also needs to have an additional 2 cuts made to create 3 strips. Take these 3 strips and align the top 1 with the side panel, then arrange the others below. Hold tight.
Repeat on the other side, until all 3 strips meet in the center of the panel, and staple in place. Use 2 staples, if needed. Repeat on the other side. Your basic basket shape is finished.
5. Cut a 1 1/4-inch (3 cm)-wide strip from the remaining card stock and staple it into place to make a basket handle. You can decorate it first, if you wish. Your basket is now finished and just needs decorating!
TO DECORATE
6. Use the basic shapes in the image to guide you to create your own Easter-themed decorations. Stick with simple shapes—ovals, circles, triangles—to create adorable chicks and bunnies! Use a glue stick to glue the shapes together and add them to your basket!
