Mad for Mel!

Swoon! Mel Clark's newest knitting book, Knitting Gifts for Baby (9781570765544), is just as gorgeous as her first two (Knitting Everyday Finery and Knit 2 Together), as my well-worn copies can attest. Mel's designs are wonderfully modern and vintage at the same time, and even though I don't have a baby to knit for, her clever twists on classic techniques are inspiring me to apply them to my own projects. I'm drooling over the Butterfly Cardi, an apricot alpaca/silk two-button sweater with fluttering butterflies slipped through eyelet holes around the entire yoke. And, I happen to know a sweet 4-year-old girl who would love this as much as I do!
