Sh*tty Mom: The Parenting Guide for the Rest of Us | ABRAMS
We don’t read many parenting books that leave us hunched over laughing in our chairs. Occasionally we come across gems like “Go the F*ck to Sleep,” or the Globe Pequot Press new fall title “Kid in the Crib” (ISBN 9780762783045), but these types of books are rare. Luckily for us this fall Abrams is releasing the hilarious new parenting guide "Sh*tty Mom: The Parenting Guide for the Rest of Us" by Laurie Kilmartin, Karen Moline, Alicia Ybarbo, and Mary Ann Zoellner. Sh*tty Mom offers practical advice like "How to Leave Your Kids to Go on a Business Trip," "And Sometimes the Asshole Is You," and "You Aren't Paranoid, Everyone Does Hate Your Baby." Sh*tty Mom is funny, relatable, at times brutally honest, and the perfect book for new and experienced moms.
Abrams asked a few of the moms in their office to divulge the chapters they related to the most and then shared them on their blog. We thought you would love reading it as much as we did.
Here are a few but definitely check out the rest here:
How to Get Rid of a Mom Who Wants to Stay Over During the Entire Play date: Every mom has had this moment. You think you’re going to have some “free” time while the kids play together, only to have the other mom plop down on the couch to chat for three hours. Remember: If you want to make a new friend, open some wine. If you don’t, open the door. –National Account Manager Jody Mosley’s pick
Someone Stole Your Baby Name! Aka Ballad of the First Aidan Mom: “I hope you don’t mind, but we were thinking of naming our baby [your child’s name].” Don’t let that happen to you! Remember: If you don’t say anything, your daughter “Olivia” will instead be known as “Olivia C. The blonde Olivia C.”

Unspeakable Evil: Private Birthday Party – with a Bouncy Castle – at a Public Park: There is a special place in hell for parents who have their kid’s birthday party in a public park AND rent a bouncy castle. (And that hell is a never-ending kid’s birthday party with two bouncy castles.)Remember: It’s never too early to start resenting the kind-of rich kids. –Editorial Director Lindley Boegehold’s pick
