Have we told you yet how much we're obsessed with Vancouver Special? When it opened in April 2008, we couldn't believe there was finally a store devoted to high quality and AFFORDABLE (!!!!) Scandinavian and Japanese design. It is a mini sanctuary just on the edge of Vancouver's bustling downtown core. They offer an incredible selection of contemporary furniture, sofas, design objects, household accessories, and art and architecture books. Please check it out if you're in Vancouver. You will not be disappointed.

As a teenager I used to love going to my local bookshop, grabbing a coffee and getting lost in the aisles. When it was time to go, I would always have a stack of books to narrow down to make one or two purchases. I loved everything about those visits: the quiet, the friendly staff, the plethora of books to rummage through... In that vein, I'd like to share a few lists praising bookstores that I would love to one day visit:
- Flavorwire has compiled a list of The 20 Most Beautiful Bookstores in the World. Their styles range from antique to modern but they're all there to celebrate books.
- Mentalfloss lists 10 Excellent Bookstore Cats. All the stores seem like great places to curl up with a feline and a book.
- CBC Books polled readers for Your Top 10 Favourite Canadian Bookstores. This list makes me want to get in my car and road trip across Canada.
