THANK YOU

Finish Line - High Park.jpeg

From all of us at Canadian Manda Group thank you so much for your donation. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to raise over $10,000 for cancer research as we participated in runs across the country. Your support means the world to us!

In 1981, Terry said, "Even if I don't finish, we need others to continue. It's got to keep going without me." Every day we are moving closer to his inspiring dream - a world free of cancer.

We truly appreciate your donation.

Sincerely,
Canadian Manda Group

THE CASUAL VACANCY to be the new Downton Abbey?

The Casual VacancyJ.K. Rowling fans take note: The Casual Vacancy is being adapted for television! Rowling will be working in collaboration with the network to create an exciting adaptation of the novel to air sometime in 2014 on BBC One. Rowling says she is "thrilled" about this new development, and I'm guessing that the Canadian public, along with book lovers the world over, share this sentiment. After all, The Casual Vacancy dominated the Quill & Quire's list for Canadian booksellers top fiction of 2012.

Set in the small English town of Pagford, The Casual Vacancy begins with the unexpected death of Barry Fairbrother, one of the local city parish councilors. His untimely death becomes the catalyst for a shocking trajectory of events that pits neighbour against neighbour, and leaves the entire town reeling in its aftermath.

Definitely ideal BBC subject matter of the dramatic variety.  I can't wait to see it!

Manda does Pongapalooza!

Last night Manda Group participated in the first annual Pongapalooza ping pong tournament at Spin Toronto. Hosted by First Book Canada the event featured a silent auction, delicious hors d'oeuvres, celebrity authors to support the teams and lots of ping pong playing! Our team dressed up and had a blast with our author - Christopher Shulgan, and got copies of his book Superdad. Even though we were out of the tournament after the first round, we managed to find a free table to play on and had a great time hanging out!

We even won a trophy for "best dressed team"!

And did we mention the whole thing served a good purpose? The event and all donations were in support of First Book Canada, which works to provide books to children in need.

Movember at Manda

Here is our most recent photo-shopped version of a group shot.  This is about 22 days into Movember.  1 week to go, mercifully.  However, over $7200 raised so far, and that ranks us # 233 in the country.

Click for Literacy

Today, we have set out on an ambitious journey. We are working with the organization S.T.E.L.L.A.A. to build a library in Africa, and are asking for your help. It’s as easy as following us on Facebook, and forwarding our message to your friends and colleagues. At the end of this journey, we will donate as many books as we have Facebook Page Likes. It’s that simple. We aim to make reading come alive for a resource-deprived community in Africa and your gift of friendship will put a book in the hands of someone who needs, and more importantly, desperately wants one. We are not afraid of setting daring targets to achieve impactful results, and are inviting you to help us achieve our goal of donating 300 books in the next two weeks.

Join Manda in making a difference. Your gift of friendship is bigger than you think.

One Click = One Friend = One Book
